Presenters
Helen Beairsto, RC Helen is trained and experienced in spiritual direction, pastoral counseling, spiritual focusing, and clinical social work. She is a practitioner of the healing arts and has given numerous retreats and workshops. Virginia Bell, CSJPA Virginia, an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, is a certified spiritual director whose experience and teaching and education in human development provides a rich background for retreat ministry. Mimi Bodell, SND Mimi is a certified spiritual director, counselor and dream workshop facilitator. She earned a BA from Trinity College, an MLS from Catholic University, and an MSW from Atlantic University. She has 10 years experience with the Jungian Institute. Magaret Ellen Burke, SC Margaret has years of experience guiding, directing and preaching retreats both in the United States and Canada. She has trained and supervised spiritual directors for over twenty five years and continues ministry for lay leadership training and spiritual development in rural counties of the Diocese of New York. Judy Cannato, Ed, MA Judy is a spiritual director on staff of River's Edge of St. Joseph Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She is the author of Quantum Grace:Lenten Reflections on Creation and Connectedness and Radical Amazement:Contemplative Lessons from Black Holes, Supernovas and Other Wonders. She is the recipient of the 2007 Catholic Presses Association Award. Judy travels widely, facilitating retreats that weave together images from the universe story and Christian spiritual tradition. She is an Associate of the Congregation of St. Joseph and is married with two grown sons. Rev. Anthony J. Ciorra is currently Dean of the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education at Fordham University. His experience includes parish life, teaching administration, retreat work and spirituality ministries. He holds a Ph.D. in Historical Theology and his publications include Everyday Mysticism, a work about spirituality in the market- place, and Moral Formation in the Parish. Msgr. Edward Ciuba, STL, SSL Msgr. Ciuba is a Scripture scholar and professor of Scripture at Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University. He is currently Pastor of Notre Dame Parish in North Caldwell, New Jersey. He has given numerous retreats and workshops on Scripture, spirituality and the new cosmology. Meg Costello, SSJ Meg is an educator, certified spiritual director, s and experienced Tai Chi Chih practicioner and an accredited Tai Chi Chih instructor. Meg holds degrees in education and has done extensive study in holistic spirituality. Marie Danaher, OP Marie is a Sister of St. Dominic of Amityville. She is a certified spiritual director and presently serves as Pastoral Associate for spirituality and social justice in a large suburban parish on Long Island. In the past, Marie served on the governing council of her congregation and for ten years as Executive Director of the Intercommunity Center for Justice and Peace in New York. She has long experience in developing retreats, presenting workshops and facilitating groups. John Dear, SJ John is a Jesuit priest, activist, organizer, lecuturer and retreat director. He has authored/edited twenty books on peace and nonviolence. Dear has been nominated for the 2008 Peace Prize by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Gail DeMaria, CSJP is a Sister of St. Joseph of Peace who is a certified spiritual director and a supervisor of spiritual directors. Currently, Gail serves her Congregation as the Director of Novices. Lucille Durso, CSJP Lucille Durso, CSJP, a Sister of St. Joseph of Peace, is an experienced educator, administrator, and public speaker. She is a certified instructor in Health and Retirement planning and holds certification in Reiki, Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch, The Four Agreements, and is an advanced Clinical Hypno-counselor. Barbara Fiand, SND de Namur Barbara is a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. She gives retreats, workshops and courses throughout the country and abroad on issues related to holistic spirituality, prayer, religious life, transformation of consciousness, quantum spirituality and the psychology and spirituality of human maturation. She is the author of eight books and numerous articles. Mary Kay Flannery, SSJ is a certified spiritual director and experienced retreat presenter, holds a Doctor of
Margaret Gaffikin, FSP Margaret, a Franciscan Sister of Peace, is a certified spiritutal director. She is an educator and has experience in congregational leadership. Margaret Galiardi, OP Margaret, an Amityville Dominican, is the Associate Director of Homecoming, an organization committed to the understanding that human and earth are one sacred community. She lectures widely on ecospirituality and retelling the Christian story in light of the universe story. Kathleen Geelan Kathleen is a wife, mother and grandmother who is a certified spiritual director. She serves on the staff for the Internship and Spiritual Directors Program in California and has vast experience in spirituality. Eleanor Goekler, SMIC Eleanor, a Franciscan Missionary Sister of the Immaculate Conception, is a certified spiritual director who has experience in formation and community leadership as well as pastoral work with the poor. Jeanne Goyette, OP Jeanne is a Dominican Sister of Caldwell, New Jersey who is the Congregational Coordinator for Earth Ministry. Jeanne is a certified and experienced spiritual director who has given retreats and days of prayer. Jeanne is currently on staff at Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair, NJ. Ginger Grancagnolo, Dr. Ginger Grancgnolo, Ed.D. is a well known and dynamic lecturer, author, and counselor. Over thirty years of experience has given her extensive knowledge as well as much prctical experience. She is the author of Who Whould I Be If I Weren't So Afraid?, The Father Principle, and The Mother Principle. Dr. Ginger has lectured throughout the country and has been a guest expert on many radio and TV shows, inlcuding the Montel Williams Show. The driving purpose and focus in all of Dr. Ginger's work is to release the fear that blocks and halts our true ability to succeed! She is an associate of the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell who lives a life of deep faith and commitment to assisting indivuduals to reclaim their divine rightful inheritance --to be safe and loved! Richard Johnson, PhD Richard is nationally recognized for his pioneering work in Adult Faith Formation and Spiritual Gerontology. He is a national presenter for religious congregations and presents workshops and retreats in many venues. He has written fourteen books focused upon God's expansive grace in the maturing years. He is a dynamic, engaging and compassionate teacher. Joan Leary Joan is an experienced spiritual director and graduate of the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation at Washington Theological Union. She is currently a Pastoral Associate at St. Anthony Parish in Red Bank, New Jersey. Patricia Lefevere Patricia is a freelance writer who has reported on religion and the world of business and finance from many parts of the world. A former resident of Britain, Belgium, Hong Kong, and Australia, she makes her home in New Jersey where she has taught creative writing to college and university students. Since 1975 she has published frequently in the National Catholic Reporter. Carol Marozzi, SSJ Carol, a Sister of St. Joseph of Philadelphia, has been Director of Bon Secour Spiritual Center in Marriottsville, Maryland for ten years. She has degrees in theology and spirituality and is a certified spiritual director. Carol works full time in retreat ministry. Mary Lee McGuane Mary Lee has maintained a passion for Scripture throughout her life. She as a degree from Duke University and has taught religion in many venues. She is married and the mother of two grown children. Jean McLoughlin, SSND Jean is a School Sister of Notre Dame and a certified spiritual director. Jean gives retreats and days of prayer in the tri-state area and is on a team at Fairfield University offering spiritual direction to students, faculty and staff. Doris Mical, CSJP Doris is a certified spiritual director, pastoral counselor and experienced retreat director. She has a private practice in the Delaware area and has had experience in Formation ministry in her congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. Terrence Moran, CSJPA Fr. Terry is a spiritual director, writer and retreat director. He has given retreats and workshops in over 35 countries. He is an assoicate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. Michael Morwood Michael has over 40 years experience in retreat, education, parish and adult faith education ministries in Australia. He is interested in helping Christians examine what they believe and why they believe it, what they imagine and why they image the way they do. His books include God is Near (1992), Tomorrow's Catholic (1997), Praying a New Story (2007)and From Sand to Solid Ground(2007). Michael currently resides in the US with his wife, Maria. Honora Nicholson, RSM Honora is an experienced spiritual director who has done spiritual direction in many retreat centers throughout the country. She is presently on the leadership team of the Sisters of Mercy, Mid-Atlantic community. Jan Novotka Jan is a well know eco spiritual songwriter who helps others connect to the Divine. In addition to being a songwriter, Jan is a retreat director, a wilderness/vision fast quide, a spiritual director, a biospiritual focusing companion and a leader of song for retreats and rituals. Vida O'Leary, RSM Vida O'Leary has been an educator, chaplain, retreat house administrator, retreat presenter and spiritual director. Vida received her training at the Jesuit Center at Wernersville, PA. She comes with a passion for the spiritual journey. Diarmuid O'Murchu, MSC Diarmuid is a priest and social psychologist. He lives in London, UK where his specialized interest is in paradigm shifts and the implications for adult faith development in our times. His books include Reclaiming Spirituality, Religion in Exile, Evolutionary Faith, Catching Up with Jesus. His latest book, Ancestral Grace has been well received. John Rausch John is a Glenmary priest and an economist who has been called a "prophet of our times". He is a renowned preacher and teacher. He is the 2007 recipient of the Pax Christi Award as Teacher of Peace. A snydicated columnist, he frequetly contributes to Glenmary's Challenge and other publications. He is a CO-OP developer, human rights activist and a gourmet chef. Fr. Rausch is the director of the Catholic Committee of Appalachia and he serves on the Social Concerns Committee of the Catholic Conference of Kentucky. Ann Marie Rimmer, OP Ann Marie, a Dominican Sister of Caldwell, NJ, holds an MA in Systematic Theology and is a certified spiritual director. Ann Marie conducts days of prayer and retreats, and is Program Director at Stella Maris Retreat Center. Margaret Scott, ACI Margaret is a member of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Born in the UK and missioned to the USA she is the director of the St. Raphaela Retreat Center in Philadelphia. She also teaches social ethics at St. Joseph's University there. A convert to Catholicism while at college, she combines in her writings and talks her passion for the Eucharist and the challenges met while living with the poor on four continents.
