CENTERING PRAYER

This prayer time has been on-going since 2008. The group meets every Wednesday. If in doubt whether the gathering is being held due to weather, first call 732-229-1795. The prayer is led by Kitty Parisi, an associate with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.

(THIS PROGRAM RUNS 13 THURSDAY MORNINGS.) Book and materials are included in fee. Our lives are given to us moment to moment by a God who is gracious, faithful, and energetically creative in interacting with us. We give our response to God moment to moment in the midst of the ordinary events of our lives. These twelve weeks are offered as a way to reflect and sift through one's multiple life experiences and to discover in them the leading thread of God's longing and desire to make us a holy people who are given in service to others. The commitment one makes is to spend time daily in prayer and reflection and to attend a weekly meeting and a willingness to share with a small group of others the result of your prayer experience. This is a wonderful life experience so please don't let money be a deterrent. (Limited number accepted, so please register early.) Saturdays: Oct. 30, Nov. 6, Nov.13, Nov. 20, Dec.4." As a culture, we have lost the art of inward listening; of focusing within. We listen to the radio, TV, movies, and read newspapers but rarely do we stop and listen inwardly to what our body's unique felt senses are trying to tell us. BioSpiritual Focusing opens a hidden doorway to this wisdom. It is the connection and/or bridge into a world of inner gifts.

This workshop will benefit those who have completed Level 1 BSF and who have experienced the gentle touch of God on their inner spirit.

When people come together, empowered by mutual vulnerability, new model of community is born. Learning the art of companioning enables another to be true to their own spirit and gathering becomes companionship in spirit. This happens not by using religion in order to manipulate the fears and weaknesses of people, not by "process-skipping" the risk of "owning" whatever hurts or frightens us, but by modeling how healthy community and healthy religion can gift us with wholeness.

In the power of God's resurrection all things become possible. For us to commit ourselves to discovering and living in this power through the doorway of Focusing is, in itself, no small miracle of grace for all of us.

BABETTE'S FEAST: STORY AND SUPPER

BOOK CLUBS WELCOME! Together with chef Renee Foggis we will experience a lovely 5-course meal with wine and enjoy the story of Babette's Feast with a brief discussion of the story between the courses. Babette's Feast, written by Karen Blixen (author of Out of Africa) is a wonderful short story and film with rich parallels to the last suppler and Christ, the suffering servant. This award winning story tells the tale of Babette who flees from Paris as a political exile to a small remote village on the coast of Denmark where a small group of villagers are part of a religious sect who practice an austere form of Christianity where there is denial of all earthly pleasures. After winning a lottery, Babette prepares a sumptuous meal for the congregation on the birthday of the Founder and gradually, a gentle transformation takes place among those gathered at the table. Come and enjoy the meal, the story, and some discussion at your table.

In music and liturgical dance hope is sparked and peace is deepened as the darkness is illuminated by the lighting of fire. March 21 "Be still and know that I am God." In our over "worded" world we sometimes fail to truly listen to all that life presents to us.

The Art of Prayer

March 28 "Pray Always", Jesus commands. How do we do that? How do we learn to live in the present moment?

The Art of Developing a Discerning Heart

April 4 "Your will be done" is a familiar phrase to many of us. How do we know what God's will is for us? Come and explore ways to develop a discerning heart.

The Art of Forgiveness

April 11 "Love your enemies" Jesus tells us. What are the "enemies" that reside in us? How can our enemies be a source of our transformation?

The Art of Loving

April 18 "Love one another." Surprisingly, the real, refreshing, and mysterious challenge of the spiritual life is not primarily to give love, but to receive it. (Robert Wicks)
