In the book, Song of the Bird, Tony writes:
The disciple was always complaining to his master,
"You are hiding the sacred of enlightenment from me."
And he would not accept his master's denials.
One day they were walking in the hills when they heard a bird sing.
"Did you hear that bird sing?" said the master.
"Yes," said the disciple.
"Well, now you know that I have hidden nothing from you."
"Yes"
Reflecting on this, the follower of Christ remembered that "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God...and the Word was made flesh."

$170 includes lodging and three meals on Saturday and two on Sunday.
While the de Mello Center does not charge for conferences, we suggest a $30 contribution to the Center. Accomodations are limited. Register early.

come to understand what it is to be fully human, fully alive as we leave our old sense of
self behind. Weaving together Jesus' experience of the Reign of God, the insights of the
mystics, as well as understandings that come from the new cosmology and quantum
physics, Jan gently and skillfully invites participants to know and experience themselves
anew. Integral to this silent retreat is sitting in stillness together, the practice of deeper
awareness, some group sharing, personal processing, time in the natural world, and lots
of singing.

This retreat is made in silence, praying with Scripture and meeting each day with a
spiritual director who discusses how God is working in the life of the retreatant as
experienced in prayer.

In this silent retreat we will grow in relationship to the God who is weaving the diverse
and sometimes contradictory threads of our lives into a beautiful and harmonious whole.
Drawing on the biblical vision of Shalom and the teachings of mystics and prophets of
a variety of traditions, we will encounter the God whose deepest desire is the abundant
flourishing of life.

These days are set aside for those who wish to pray, rest, read, and swim.
We maintain a contemplative spirit and there is conversation at meals.

Immerse yourself deeply in the natural world. Spend days and nights on Stella Maris'
coastal land to strengthen your connection to self, Earth and her waters, and to the sacred
dimension in your life. Bring a tent and a sense of wonder. No previous camping
