News
Stella Maris has been conscious of being environmentally sensitive through the following efforts.
* We use cloth napkins when are guests who are here longer than a day.
* We re-cycle plastic, glass, etc. as well as paper.
* We cut our use of paper cups, plates, etc. to a minimum
* We have changed our light bulbs to eco smart bulbs.
* We reduce heat use by keeping our windows and doors well insulated and in good repair.
* We use environmentally sound cleaning products and paper products.

More needs to be done and our staff is working together to improve all our initiatives.

We continue to grow……..

Due to damage done to our bulkhead, The Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace (sponsors of Stella Maris) replaced our bulkhead with a steel structure which is supported by braces. Once that was completed, 2000 tons of environmentally sound sand was added, and 18,000 plugs of dune grace were planted to anchor the sand. It was an amazing engineering feat. The new bulkhead has already withstood Hurricane Irene and some other October storms.

Stella Maris is pleased to announce the completion of our labyrinth and a fire pit on our land, just south of the Chapel. A labyrinth is a spiritual tool that offers many ways for retreatants and visitors to come closer to Christ.
This labyrinth completes a 10 year out door environmental plan for our land.
